Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see the UniverSoul Circus for the first time. Mason, Lily, and grandpa joined me for the fun! The circus travels all over the United States and is currently set-up at the National Harbor, a gorgeous venue.
The UniverSoul Circus was always a show that I had heard about but was not sure if it was a kid friendly, family friendly show. After our visit yesterday, I will easily place my Macaroni Kid Publisher Mom seal of approval on it. Your kids will FINALLY get to experience sitting in a true "big top" circus tent. Do not fear parents, it's air-conditioned! There are GIANT a/c units along the back of the tent so the only seat I would not suggest if you have small children is the very back row. I'm sure that would be a chilly spot. Being a huge tent, but small in the scheme of venues the UniverSoul Circus seats just 2,500. There is truly no bad seat in the house and the performers make sure to engage each and every section of the tent.
There are some entertainment options available while you wait for the show to begin. General pricing has been listed below. **Prices subject to change, Bowie Macaroni Kid is not responsible if there are pricing changes** I opted for a special treat camel ride for Mason. Adults can ride with smaller children.
UniverSoul Circus is known for audience interaction making it a much more enjoyable and generally entertaining show. Especially when some audience members learn why they are picked, AFTER they are selected. Yesterday the performance included a dance off, serenade battle, and soul train contest. The EXCLUSIVE Macaroni Kid showings, 10:30am will feature kid oriented "filler", like dance-off's. These interactions make the transition times on the stage go quickly and keeps your little one engaged resulting in less meltdowns.
The show was filled with dozens of wonderful performances including stilts, fire limbo (pictured in the article), elephants, zebras, some magic (who knew you could turn women into tigers!), trapeze artists, motorcycle daredevils, pole climbing (AMAZING), and more!

As a publisher mom I often have the opportunity to attend shows of all types, I can honestly say I enjoyed myself yesterday and was impressed with the ability the show had to keep my toddler engaged. For the price of the UniverSoul Circus, it's a wonderful way to spend your morning/early afternoon. Look forward to checking out your pictures when you go!
